About us

This site was established in 2008 as a tribute to vintage audio formats from the 1960s and 70s. We cover not only 8-track tape cartridges and reel-to-reel tapes, but 4-track tape cartridges, the smaller 2-track PlayTape format, as well as players and recorders.

In addition to listing prerecorded tapes for sale, QuarterInchers.com features player/recorder decks from several vintage companies. We also separate our 8-tracks and reel tapes into stereo and quad sections.

Our own love affair with 8-track tapes and reel tapes began in the mid-90s; at one time we had several hundred hand-picked and lovingly repaired/restored stereo and quad tapes in our personal 8-track tape collection, and the format was our primary method of hearing music for many years.
